    Odysseus Data Services (https://odysseusinc.com/) - is a fast-growing US-based company focused on the creation of a single platform that will combine medical history data from clinics all over the world.  Our goal is to provide a vast information base to be used by scientific researchers, medical centers and institutes, as well as the pharmaceutical industry and insurance companies. 

    Today Odysseus Data Services is an active member of the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (or OHDSI, pronounced "Odyssey") consortium (https://www.ohdsi.org/ ), whose main mission is to improve health care systems around the world by collecting and organizing data on the treatment of various diseases and then combining this data into a single, standardized, universally-accessible knowledge base to bring out the value of health data through large-scale analytics.

    Due to our rapid growth, we now have a vacancy for a Medical Data Analyst in the city of Berlin, Vilnius, Prague and Newtown PA.

Responsibilities

  • Expansion, support and ongoing curation of the OMOP standard dictionaries
  • Participation in the development of international standards for the presentation and exchange of medical data (in particular, OMOP CDM and OMOP Standardized Vocabularies)
  • Assistance in creating processes for the transfer of clinical data from various sources to the customer's data management system (the so-called ETL process - extract-transform-load)
  • Researching of the structure and content of the original data (diagnoses, conclusions, types of drugs, types of medical interventions, etc.) and mapping the data elements to standardized dictionaries
  • Finding and correcting inconsistencies in the data set of medical research, treatment histories, treatment methods, etc.
  • Assist our team of programmers and our clients to better understand medical processes
  • Be in direct contact with the company's clients and their clients (end customers) to resolve issues related to medical informatics

Required Skills 

  • M.D., or M.S. in a medically-related science discipline
  • Fluency in spoken and written English at a C1 / C2 level
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (dictionaries) in English
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server or similar) or MPP systems (AWS RedShift, GCP BigQuery, Azure Synapse)
  • Willingness to study international standards for the presentation of medical data (in particular, OMOP, FHIR)

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with code terminologies (CMT - Coded Medical Terminology), such as: SNOMED, ICD10, LOINC, etc., and / or a willingness to learn them
  • Epidemiology, applied statistics
  • Knowledge of the Python programming language
